Conviction · Nullity challenges rejected, according to EFE · Reviewed: 18/10/2026
Coverage must distinguish the mask-contract ruling from other investigations and subsequent challenges.
Latest corroborated development
EFE reported on 14 October that the Supreme Court rejected challenges to the mask-case convictions: 24 years and three months for Ábalos and 19 years and eight months for Koldo. It said this opens the route to a Constitutional Court appeal. That does not establish that such an appeal has been filed or decided.
The defence position
The defence alleged rights violations, EFE reports. We have not inspected the complete order.
What must remain separate
A decision in one proceeding does not automatically settle related cases. We will maintain a dated chronology of rulings and challenges, identifying the court and separating individual responsibility from conclusions about an entire party or government.
Next check
Obtain the original judicial decision and check whether a constitutional appeal is filed or admitted. An announced appeal is not an admitted appeal.
