Plus Ultra: hearings scheduled for 19 and 30 November
Judicial investigation · Not a conviction · Reviewed: 18/10/2026
A brief to follow proceedings without presenting investigative hypotheses as established facts.
Background and Zapatero’s position
EFE reported on 17 June that José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero testified as a suspect and denied exerting influence to benefit Plus Ultra. He attributed his income to consultancy work. That is his account and must be reported alongside the matters under investigation.
19 and 30 November: the reported next hearings
On 21 September, EFE reported that Judge José Luis Calama summoned former SEPI executive José Ángel Partearroyo and former Plus Ultra finance director Félix Martín as witnesses on 19 November. Laura and Alba Rodríguez Espinosa were summoned as suspects on 30 November. An expert assessment of seized jewellery was also ordered. These are scheduled proceedings, not completed hearings or a conviction.
